Confucious says....we'll see

Hey Gang:

Left the US for a pre-bail-out setup trip to get somethings in place and feel out the new locale....felt incredibly good to be out of the US. I didn't log into any of the doom and gloom sites the entire week or answer my US cellphone once. Amazing how good that feels and I am going to try and unplug as much as I can while here in the US for the remaining time I am here...another 60 days at most.

On the way back to the US, I watched "Charlie Wilson's War" on the airplane. The movie was a very good albeit slightly disturbing insight of US foreign policy. Anyway, one of the characters makes a good habit of reacting to good or bad news on a very zen level -- in which Confucious takes both good and bad news very placidly with a "we'll see".

So I've decided that with things happening the way they are (financial crisis, recession, etc.) to be more zen like.

It's like surfing....I've been following the wave and know there is a big wave of change coming and instead of worrying about how big it is, if it is going to pound me into the sand bottom, if I have the right surf board, trying to find "the answer" etc., etc., instead of thinking about what is going on I'm just going to turn my back on it and start to paddle and ride the thing and perhaps I will end up on a beach somewhere in Europe...or not.

"We'll see". That's my new response to SHTF "we'll see"

I do know for a fact that for my specific circumstances leaving the US is something I need to do for a variety of reasons....the least of which is that my career field here in the US no longer exisits in its pre-debt collapse form.

Also, the rest of the world is not ending....just the US way of debt-funded lifestyle. I gave a taxi cab driver a $100 USD bill in Europe and he didn't want to take it and instead wanted euros or his home currency.

Being in Europe and seeing buildings that are 500, 600 years old...buildings that have survived revolutions, war, executions, bombings I realize that the world will not end simply because some overweight, arrogant Americans can no longer use credit to buy homes and SUVs...the US way of life will change and Americans will be forced to change with it.

That said, the first key to any survival situation is a postive mental attitude (PMA) and the daily influx of doom and gloom news is not helping me mantain a strong PMA.It's time to turn down the info dial and instead focus on catching the wave.

On arriving back in the US--and having a traitorous little beagle sniff my bags thus earning me a nice impromptu bag check in the baggage claim area, I was again reaffirmed in my decision to leave the US.

A well intentioned Border Agent gave me a sincere "welcome back to America" while I was amazed to see his colleague (a Big Fat Black Woman "BFBW") yelling at the arrivals next to me because they didn't speak English...as if yelling at someone will make them speak English better.

Then going into the terminal, the Americans all glued to the big TVs watching CNN....everyone eating, eating, eating and going somewhere...I had that same feeling I had in the military when a good weekend pass was over: I had the Sunday blues upon returning to the regimented barracks.

Also, people outside of the US have no idea who Ron Paul is...I tried to explain but they all think we are stuck with the 3 stooges (HC, BO, JM)...maybe they are right.

"we'll see"

Glad you're happy with your path Dog. It's as important as anything else.
What country are you heading for if you're sharing that info.

Try some Yoga and meditation too. Haven't read a paper or watched the news in years. Stuff changed my life.
Good to unplg from GIm for while sometimes too.
Congrats.

And remember the immortal words of Marilyn Monroe:

"Ever notice that 'what the hell' is always the right decision? "

sounds like you had a good time "out there"

meet any nice bitches? err- I don't ... mean that... in a derogatory way. I'm just saying - cause DogFarm is a male dog ... and... well, never mind. :smokin:

yeah I've got a spot in Europe I can escape to as well though I have not made any plans for actually doing it besides finalizing my dual citizenship there. I figure that would be my very last resort.

Aah, a realtor or mortgage broker eh? Keep in mind that CWW is Hollywood's "artistic interpretation" of history. (Like the MSM's.) We'll see... Teddy Kennedy would say, "I'll drive off that bridge when I come to it." Keep your spirits up because you know what's coming and have made survival preps -- you'll make it through OK. Brave new world.

:haha: Last time I came through I offered to feed the mutt a couple of the 50+ bars of Russian chocolate we had in our bags. They weren't amused. Didn't even thank me... or welcome me back. I thought it was a generous offer. Such a dis!

One of our many fond memories of the endless hours spent at 26 Federal Plaza is the former-Stasi drill sergeant security forces at the entrance... "WHAT'S THE MATTER... I'M NOT SHOUTING LOUD ENOUGH FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND ENGLISH!!!" (Lots of "!!!" and think of R. Lee Ermey)

Yup...

Hey DogFarm,

Glad your trip went well. I do hope you'll keep us informed on how things go. It's a treat to read about your new adventures abroad. To what part of Europe are you heading, or what country if you are inclined to share?

I thought he raised dogs...

I moved out, back in January. Just back for another week to finish off sellin some stuff and set up the house for renting.

Las Vegas is dead. An eerie quite is everywhere, is like 1/2 the economy is gone since gas went up.

But again yes, I am living the we'll see life.

We'll see if I can build that S.S. G.I.M. afterall.

Hello to the forum! First post here (been lurking awhile, though).

AuAgHorn, what's the deal with Vegas? We were planning on going there in Sept. Are the casinos undercrowded and the slots not paying like before?

That was my favorite playground!

Thanks.

Not too sure whats going on down the strip, but if it's anything like the rest of the town, I'd say you won't have a problem playing a whole row of slots at once...

Welcome aboard Carno.
